Midwest Youth Choir

Our Midwest Youth Choir (MYC) provides high-quality instruction to students ages 5-18 throughout Northwest Indiana and Illinois.

Through learning how to read and understand musical compositions, students perform a musical repertoire that includes traditional and contemporary pieces in a variety of languages.

There is no experience necessary to participate.

REGISTRATION IS OPEN

2023-2024 - Classes are held at Hammond Central High School (Door D) - 5926 Calumet Avenue Hammond, IN 46320. Classes start October 2023 and finish May 2024 (start date subject to change).

2023-24 Class Times

Level 1 (ages 5-7) | Monday | 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Level 2 (ages 8-18) | Wednesday| 6 - 7 p.m.

Tuition: $150.00 for January-May.

Tuition is 50% off for Hammond Students.

Registration Fee: $25.00

No auditions are required for either level. Students are welcome from any school in any zip code.

Midwest Youth Choir Level 1 (Let's Sing!)

Students ages 5-7 | Mondays 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Students learn to sing properly with correct diction and music theory for their level. Some are building their vocabularies, which helps build confidence to sing and present themselves on and off stage.

Midwest Youth Choir Level 2

Students ages 8-17 | Wednesdays 6-7 p.m.

MYC Level 2 offers continued music education and unique performance experiences. This summer choir level 2 students will perform at a Native American Pow-Wow at St. Joseph’s Church in downtown Hammond on Saturday, June 24 and participate in an evening poetry workshop held at Gibson Woods Nature Preserve along with other arts experiences in Hammond and Northwest Indiana broadly. 

Community Performances

The Midwest Youth Choir level 2 is available for performances at local community events and businesses.

Previous performances include the Get Out the Vote Rally 2018, Festival of the Lakes with Foreigner, St. Joseph Church Native American Pow Wow and more.
