Exposure, experience & exploration available through the literary, visual & musical arts are essential to the potential of every child.
Since 2000, Books, Brushes & Bands for Education has attracted thousands of public, private, parochial and home school students from ages 4 to 22 to experience excellent instruction and performance opportunities.
We strive to achieve individual student excellence so they may develop in confidence, self-esteem, team-building, and ultimately appreciate and respect the differences in others. Through consistent and continued involvement, students discover and enhance their creative gifts and experience the world beyond their everyday classroom.
Currently, there is representation from over 25 schools from both Indiana and Illinois with students participating in multiple programs. There is no residency restriction for any of our programs.
Our on-going partnership with Merit School of Music for the Midwest Youth music programs has provided experiences beyond excellent classroom instruction.
Over the years, BBB4E students have performed venues such as AON Foundation, MeritFest at Symphony Center, Calumet College of Saint Joseph, Dynasty Banquets, Merit Young Musicians Competition, Indiana University Northwest, Nazareth Home Gala, Purdue University Calumet, Hammond Arts Center, and Festival of the Lakes with FOREIGNER as their guest community choir.
Every spring and summer our Midwest Youth Choir takes a bus tour to 5 local businesses and organizations for one day and performs for their staff and patrons.
By partnering with outside organizations, special opportunities are presented to BBB4E families like trips to the Lyric Opera of Chicago, master classes with professional performers including pianist Marta Aznavoorian and opera singer Yohan Yi, attend an Alice Cooper concert and meet lead guitarist Ryan Roxie and drummer Glen Sobel, attend concerts of the Northwest Indiana Symphony and the Grant Park Symphony, [art institute day].
