What is planned giving?

Planned giving is a way to make a gift to your charity of choice through thoughtful estate planning. A planned gift takes your needs as well as the needs of your loved ones into consideration while helping support a cause or a charity that is personally meaningful to you.

How does Books, Brushes & Bands for Education benefit from a planned gift?

Even relatively smaller planned gifts can be used to sustain certain programs or facilities, add capacity, establish endowments, or launch major new initiatives.

You also have the option to direct your gift to support a specific BBB4E program or service, such as the Midwest Youth Choir, Midwest Youth Band, Midwest Youth Orchestra, or Book Brigade: A Call to Action.

Please remember Books, Brushes & Bands for Education in your will and trusts.

How can I make a planned gift to Books, Brushes & Bands for Education?

Planned gifts range from simply designating Books, Brushes & Bands for Education (BBB4E) as a beneficiary in your will to gifts like charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts that provide a major gift to BB4BE while returning income to you as the donor. Other options are designating BBB4E as a beneficiary of your retirement plan or life insurance policy. Your attorney or financial planner may have suggestions that are best suited to your unique situation.

When naming BBB4E as beneficiary of a bequest, insurance policy, retirement plan, or trust, you should instruct the attorney preparing legal documents that the corporate title for BBB4E is “Books, Brushes & Bands for Education, Inc.”; 5920 Hohman Avenue, Hammond, IN 46320. Books, Brushes & Bands for Education is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.

If you have questions or need more information about the various gift options available, please contact us at (219) 932.3232 or by emailing us at give@bbb4.org.

As with any planned gift, please consult with your attorney and/or tax advisor before making any decision.

How do I benefit from a planned gift?

A planned gift may enable you to make a much more significant impact than you may have thought possible. It can create opportunities to support BBB4E in a very impactful way, helping thousands of children and their families have access to high-quality community arts programs.

How do my family and other loved ones benefit?

A planned gift can create potential savings on capital gains taxes or estate taxes, lessening the financial burden on your family and loved ones. For instance, a planned gift can reduce your estate tax liability. The assets that you transfer to BBB4E remain outside of your taxable estate.
