BBB4E Spring Plans

We are springing into 2023! BBB4E is up to a lot this year and we want you to be a part of it.

The students in the Midwest Youth Choir (MYC) and Midwest Youth Orchestra (MYO) are back in class learning new music and making new memories. There are several upcoming performance opportunities. BBB4E is also excited bring back several of our legacy visual and literary art projects.

On Wednesday, March 1, at 5:30 pm BBB4E families are invited to participate in One Night/Two Stories, an original art workshop. Students and parents/guardians will prepare story topics, enjoy a free light-supper & create a piece of art that combines their family stories. Located at Hammond Central High School, 5926 Calumet Avenue, Hammond.

In March, students in the Midwest Youth Choir will be performing throughout the region for the return of Spring Serenades. This field trip is a unique opportunity for students in the MYC. In past years, the group has visited banks, fire stations, manufacturing warehouses and other businesses. Please contact Ian Brundige with location ideas for the route: give@bbb4e.org.

To kick off National Poetry Month, BBB4E will host a Poetry Pantry workshop, April 1. With four levels of instruction (Elementary, Middle, High School, and Adult) the entire family can participate. The program will culminate with individual readings. All participants will be asked to bring new socks to donate to the community.

April 30th will bring the 5th Annual Spring Tea fundraiser. Join us at the Halls of St. George, 905 E. Joliet St., Schererville Sundayfor an afternoon of food, art and community. The MYC and additional artists will perform.

Join the Midwest Youth Choir and Midwest Youth Orchestra at the 2023 Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 24  6:30 pm at the Walter J. Watkins Black Box Theater at Hammond Central High School.

In summer we plan to return to community book delivery through the Book Brigade: Call to Action. Join us to promote reading by volunteering as we collect, sort and distribute books across the region. If you are interested in volunteer contact Ian Brundige at give@bbb4e.org.
