ORIENTATION FOR MUSIC CLASSES

Any student who wishes to participate in any of Books, Brushes & Bands for Education’s music classes, must be in attendance for their orientation with at least one parent/guardian. If a guardian or student misses their orientation, a meeting with the staff must be set up in order to participate.

All Orientations are held where classes are held, Miller Facility – 6530 New Hampshire Avenue, Hammond.

Family Game Night

November 15, 2017
5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Families enrolled in the 2017-2018 Academic Year should bring a pizza for their family and their favorite board games. This is the first social event for all students and families across all of our programs. We strongly encourage anyone and everyone to participate.

Student Movie Night

All BBB4E students are welcome to a student movie night. Students may bring snacks for this event. Parents may hang out in a separate room from the kids during the movie or may come back at a later time. Movie to be determined. Any movie watched in the previous movie nights have been rated G.

Book Brigade Kickoff Walk

Books donated for the 2018 collection for Book Brigade: A Call to Action will be delivered door-to-door near the Merge Building, where BBB4E’s office is located. More info to come!

Cookbook Fundraiser

Recipes are currently being accepted! We ask for 3-4 recipes submitted. BBB4E will choose 1 or 2 recipes.  All recipes must be turned in by January 1, 2018.

Carson’s Community Day Booklets

Now until November 4, 2017
$5.00/book

Families and BBB4E staff will be selling Carson’s Community Day Coupon Books for $5.00/book. Books sold go towards tuition for our students and into the BBB4E Scholarship Fund. To purchase a book, please call (219) 932-3232. Coupon books may be used at Carson’s from November 2 – 4, 2017.

Popcorn Fundraisers

November 1 – November 30, 2017
March 1 – April 5, 2018

Families and BBB4E staff will be selling popcorn during the month of November. Families that sell will receive 25% of their sales off of their tuition while the other 25% goes towards general operating fees for classes. Staff sales will be divided in half for 25% of sales going to our Play It Forward campaign and the other 25% going towards general operating fees. To order popcorn, please call (219) 932-3232. Popcorn orders will come in during the week of December 11th and April 16th.

Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser

Music Jar: Changing Our Tune

April 2 – May 3, 2018

Students may borrow a mason jar from BBB4E and collect change/donations for our 4th annual Music Jar contest. Students have 1 month to collect as much as they can. The top three sellers will be announced and rewarded at our Spring Concert. BBB4E has jar available for anyone who would like to collect donations. These donations go towards summer music programs. Please email us at bbb4e@att.net for a music jar. Students have raised over $1,000 for this fundraiser.

Midwest Youth Artists Contest

Saturday, March 17, 2018
Location to be announced

Students in the Midwest Youth Band, Midwest Youth Choir, and Midwest Youth Orchestra may participate in BBB4E’s Midwest Youth Artists Contest. Students may perform a solo or a small ensemble/duet/trio with other students. All of those who participate will be given a performance time when they will perform for the appointed judges. After the contest, every student will be given a score an award, which will be given out during class at a later date. The fee for each performance is $5.00 per student, which covers the costs of awards.

MeritFest 2018

Date to be announced by the Merit School of Music. Will be a Monday in May 2018.

Students in the Midwest Youth Band and the Midwest Youth Choir will performing on stage at Symphony Center in Chicago with other students in the Merit School of Music’s Bridges programs. Merit has not announced the date yet. More info to come!
