MIDWEST YOUTH ORCHESTRA

About the Program

Books, Brushes & Bands for Education’s Midwest Youth Orchestra is open to students grades 5-12.

The traditional method of string instruction incorporates sequential-based curriculum focused on instrumental technique, musical knowledge, musical skills and musical etiquette.

All Midwest Youth Orchestra students may compete in the Books, Brushes & Bands Midwest Youth Artist Contest – date to be announced.


2018 – 19 Academic Year

Location: Hammond Academy for the Performing Arts – 6915 Grand Avenue (Door F)
Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays
End Date: May 23, 2019
Tuition Cost: $400.00 for the entire school year
Instrument Rental: $112.00 (for the entire academic year)

PAYMENTS

Tuition is not due in full until April 1, 2019. There is a minimum monthly payment that is due of $20.00 every month. If a payment is missed, a $10.00 late fee will be applied.

There are multiple tuition fundraisers throughout the school year for parents to sell items and receive money off of their tuition.

Beginning Orchestra

5:15 – 6:15 p.m.

For students with a year or less of playing experience on violin, viola, cello or bass.
Only instruments we offer for rent are violin and cello.

Start Date: September 11, 2018

Experienced Orchestra

6:15 – 7:15 p.m.

For students with more experience of playing traditional stringed instruments. Instruments that we offer to rent are violin and cello, but students may bring their own bass or viola.

Start Date: September 25, 2018
