About the Program

Books, Brushes & Bands for Education’s Midwest Youth Orchestra is open to students grades 1-12.

The traditional method of string instruction incorporates sequential-based curriculum focused on instrumental technique, musical knowledge, musical skills and musical etiquette.

All Midwest Youth Orchestra students may compete in the Books, Brushes & Bands Midwest Youth Artist Contest on Saturday, March 17th.


2017 – 18 Academic Year

Location: Miller Facility – 6530 New Hampshire Avenue, Hammond, IN 46323 – DOOR E (parking is in the back of the lot)
Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays
End Date: May 24, 2018
Tuition Cost: $400.00 for the entire school year
Instrument Rental: $96.00

PAYMENTS

Tuition is not due in full until April 1, 2018. There is a minimum monthly payment that is due of $20.00 every month. If a payment is missed, a $10.00 late fee will be applied.

There are multiple tuition fundraisers throughout the school year for parents to sell items and receive money off of their tuition.

Beginning Orchestra

5:15 – 6:15 p.m.

For students with a year or less of playing experience on violin, viola, cello or bass. Only instruments we offer for rent are violin and cello.

Start Date: September 19, 2017

Experienced Orchestra

6:15 – 7:15 p.m.

For students with more experience of playing traditional stringed instruments. Instruments that we offer to rent are violin and cello, but students may bring their own bass or viola.

Start Date: October 12, 2017
