Why I serve on the board of directors for Books, Brushes & Bands for education, and why the arts should be an integral part of every child's life.

Children are faced with many choices every day of their lives.  Some of the choices are very difficult while more importantly, some are critical.  All too often, children choose the path which leads them to despair and isolation.  This unhappiness carries forward into their adult life - impacting our society.

Children must know what their options are.  It is essential that children have the opportunity to embrace the arts.  The arts allow self-expression, introspection, personal growth, and confidence in every child - to name only a few of the benefits.  

I believe we must encourage children to explore the joy that comes to an artist, as well as to celebrate the gift of the arts as an audience.  In this way, we can create and sustain a more peaceful, respectful, and creative world.
