Mr. David M. Allie is the Director of the Midwest Youth Band Program sponsored by Book, Brushes and Bands for Education located in Hammond, Indiana and partnered with The Merit School of Music in Chicago, Illinois following his retirement as a Band Director from Memorial Junior High School in Lansing, Illinois, School District 158 after thirty six years of teaching 1977-2013.
In addition to this responsibility he is also the Director of Bands at Talcott Fine Arts Academy in Chicago as well as the director of the Concert Jazz Band at Merit School of Music; the Music Director for the Midwest Big Band from Chesterton, Indiana and the Interim Band Director at Thornwood High School in South Holland, Illinois.
His active teaching schedule has brought him out of retirement and he is enjoying working with all the programs. His success as a teacher has been his ability to except a child at whatever level they are at, musically speaking, and helping them to become the best that they can be. Mr. Allie bases all the programs on “old fashion values” of hard work, dedication, sacrifice and pride. These values will not only help a student become a good musician but, will one day, help them become a worthy member of our society.
Mr. Allie currently holds a Bachelor and Master’s Degrees from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Allie enjoys playing his trumpet in the South Shore Brass Band and The Midwest Big Band which frequently perform in Northern Indiana and South Chicago Suburbs.
Mr. Allie resides in Dyer, Indiana with his wife Kathy Brewer and their dogs Autumn and Snowball.
